The People's Republic of China and the United States of America are by far the nations with the largest number of assets in Australia. Whilst the US and the UK have the majority of their personnel allocated in their embassies, China has an even larger number of assets scattered throughout its consulates.

Any further consideration is beyond the scope of the data, but one could easily speculate that this is reflective of the very distinguished nature of Australia’s bi-lateral relations with these two countries. The dynamics of Australia-US relations demands a unique effort in order to maintain the desired level of cooperation and interoperability.

Another factor that should be taken into account is the much larger number of Chinese citizens residing in Australia, which greatly increases the demand for consular services.

Although all Top 20 missions have a total personnel of at approximately 20, the remaining missions dispose of much smaller human resources. The vast majority of missions has a total personnel number of less than 10.
